The Omiya Bonsai Museum, Saitama City

The traditional Japanese cultural art form, “bonsai” has made its way into the English language unchanged from the Japanese word.

At Saitama City’s the Omiya Bonsai Museum, the study and research of the bonsai culture that has been cultivated through tradition are accompanied by the wide promotion of bonsai culture with the aim of making more people familiar with bonsai. The world’s first public bonsai museum, it was opened in order to bring visitors closer to Omiya Bonsai Village, a place known across the world as holy ground for bonsai.

At the Omiya Bonsai Museum, in addition to more than 120 bonsai masterpieces, bonsai pots, viewing stones, pictorial material and material relating to bonsai history and folklore have been systematically collected for display. It’s a place to quietly appreciate the beauty of this living art form that has been created by humans and nature together.
